Maintenance Technician – Multi-Family Apartment Community

Position Type: Temp-to-Hire
Location: Hammond, LA
Pay: $22/hour (based on experience)
Schedule: [Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, plus on-call possibility]

About the Opportunity

Specialized Staffing Solutions is hiring an experienced Maintenance Technician to keep an apartment community running smoothly. You’ll handle service requests, repairs and preventative maintenance across the property. Strong performers have a direct path to permanent employment.

Responsibilities

  • Complete resident work orders quickly and correctly, and keep residents informed
  • Diagnose and repair HVAC systems: thermostats, condensers, air handlers, filters, refrigerant issues, and electrical components
  • Handle plumbing repairs including leaks, clogs, toilets, faucets, garbage disposals and water heaters
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues: outlets, switches, light fixtures, breakers, and appliance wiring
  • Repair and maintain appliances (refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, washers and dryers)
  • Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on HVAC units, water heaters, plumbing and building systems
  • Make units ready for move-in: drywall repair, painting, fixture replacement, door and lock repair
  • Maintain common areas, amenities and exterior grounds as needed
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies on a rotating on-call schedule
  • Keep accurate records of repairs, parts used and completed work orders
  • Report safety hazards and larger repair needs to property management

Requirements

  • Experience in HVAC, plumbing and electrical repair is required
  • [2+] years of maintenance experience, preferably in multi-family or apartment communities
  • Able to diagnose problems independently and finish repairs without close supervision
  • Own basic hand tools
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Able to take part in an after-hours on-call rotation
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in attics, crawl spaces and outdoors in Louisiana heat
  • Professional, courteous manner with residents

Preferred

  • EPA 608 Certification (Universal or Type II)
  • CAM-T (Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician) or similar certification
  • Pool maintenance experience or CPO certification
  • Experience with work-order software (Yardi, RealPage, AppFolio or similar)
