About the Opportunity

Specialized Staffing Solutions is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Hydro Department Lead for a valued client in a machine shop environment. This opportunity may be offered as either Temp-to-Hire or Direct Hire, depending on the candidate’s experience, leadership background, and overall fit.

This is a working lead position requiring a hands-on leader who can supervise daily department operations while actively assisting on the shop floor. The Hydro Department Lead will oversee a team of 6–8 direct reports, ensure production goals are met, and maintain a strong culture of safety, accountability, and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and supervise 6–8 employees within the Hydro Department
• Serve as a hands-on working lead assisting with daily machine shop operations
• Assign work, monitor progress, and ensure production deadlines are met
• Maintain quality standards and ensure accuracy of completed work
• Troubleshoot workflow or equipment-related issues as they arise
• Promote and enforce workplace safety procedures
• Communicate production updates and staffing needs to management
• Build team accountability, morale, and performance standards
• Assist with process improvements for efficiency and productivity

Qualifications

• Previous leadership experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment required
• Proven ability to supervise employees while remaining hands-on
• Strong multitasking, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced setting
• Strong communication and leadership presence
• Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork
